My Painted Furniture

September 12, 2013 in My house by MG

I have been showing you my painted furniture through several sneak peeks into my home.  All these painted furniture projects were started before RedOstelinda.com was launched.  As a result, there is only an “after photo” for each of the projects.  I thought that I would like to show them all grouped in one post.  I also want to point out that every single one of these pieces was painted by yours truly.  They are all obviously very imperfect and I love them all that way. There are also nine furniture pieces that are “waiting to be painted” and those will be the subject of “Before and After” Posts. I have three pieces in the garage, three in my home office, one in my son’s room, one in the utility room and one in my bedroom.  OK, by now you have already figured out that I am one of those people that pick up furniture from the side of the road.

…all my painted furniture as of today…

The first five photos have been posted as part of previous posts. You can see the prior posts under the My House menu item above.

The following photos do not belong to a prior post.  I picked up the chair you see below at a garage sale and gave it a couple of coats of white. You can see the chair in the mirror photo above.  It now has the black and white Chevron “upholstery” which is actually just an old, overly washed and tired Missoni for Target men’s sweater which is now assuming a second life.  I actually “reupholstered” this chair after launching Red Ostelinda. The complete process, which I photographed,  will follow in a future post.

I picked up the chair you see in the next two photos at an estate-sales-store (which used to be in one of the blocks demolished to make room for the Merrick Park Shops in Coral Gables). The chair was $5 and it was in a very ugly foam green. It sat in the garage for years. My poor husband would move the chair around the garage again and again until one day I found it in the back of his truck ready for the trip to the dump. After a short back and forth (read disagreement), I took the chair out of the truck and back into the garage with the promise that I would have the chair out of the garage in a week or two. Well, he gave up. I think the chair sat out there for a few more years. I finally painted it white and used a Jonathan Adler pillow I sniped at eBay and an old pillow covered in an Ikea pillow cover. The chair currently lives inside my home office.
