AMC and (RED) partner in the fight against AIDS – Go to the movies
May 30, 2013 in Just Saying by MG
AMC and (RED) partner in the fight against AIDS as part of the “CHOOSE (RED), SAVE LIVES” initiative. AMC is going to make a donation to the Global Fund of 40 cents from each ticket sold between June 1st and June 10th, up to a $100,000 donation.
Why 40 cents? That is the cost of a day’s supply of HIV medicine for someone living in sub-Saharan Africa.
And… what is (RED)? The (RED) organization is a private sector donor which was founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver and which raises the funds that it donates to the Global Fund through the sale of products by partner companies such as AMC (in this case), NIKE, Apple, BEATS Electronics and many other companies.
AMC is also going to be airing in their theaters a clip titled “40 cents” which features celebrities such as Julianne More, Gabourey Sidibe, Bono, Dakota Fanning, Jane Lynch, Penelope Cruz, Benicio del Toro, Gwen Stefani, Bono, Don Cheadle, Hugh Jackman, Ludacris, Iman, Javier Bardem and others.
