Refreshed Legs RedOstelinda

Last weekend was just great at the RedOstelinda.com household. I started on my road back to fitness (more on that on a post really soon), I bought a couple of plants for the house entrance, I painted the legs of  my pink home-office chair and I also took the photos I needed for the master bedroom post.

This post is only about the smallest project, which was the painting of the legs of my pink chair. This pink dining room chair, which I purchased at Marshall’s a while ago (I mean a WHILE ago, possibly more than a year ago) sits in my home office. I bought it for its pretty pink color, but I was never happy with its dark legs. I mean, I think the chair looks pretty with the dark legs, but there are already too many other dark pieces in the room.

So, after finishing the first workout of my new plan (and again, more about that on future posts), I had this sudden burst of energy which made me just go straight for the pink chair and decide “Dark Legs No More”.   And then (after snapping a photo of the “before” stage of the chair) I immediately got into the painting process.  You know…setting up the worktable, taping the chair….And  Voilà!  It was such a simple project.

All I could think about when while in the midst of it was.. how could I have possibly procrastinated something so simple for so long? So, here are the photos of the pink chair with refreshed white legs! This first photo shows the chair as it was in my home-office, right before the paint job.   Do you see what I mean? …see the other dark furniture in the room?

The photo below shows the Zinsser oil based primer and the High Gloss white spray paint, both of which I had purchased at Home Depot and which I used for this paint job.  I did not have to make a special trip to Home Depot as had left-over paint from the dining room chair paint job.

So, I just propped up the chair on the work table to start getting it ready.  Don’t you love my beautiful chain link fence as the background? Such exquisite fence, what can I say.

Ok, so I was horrible at covering the chair. I just put newspapers and plastic bags all over the chair and also wasted a lot of the painter’s blue tape. Oh well!

I also covered the plastic leg tips with a little bit of blue tape. That was easy!  Here you can also see a bit more of my exquisite chain link fence and can also see all the cement blocks. What are the blocks for?  The blocks are for my two beagles, who are escape artists.   That is our escape prevention system for now since there is no budget  for a new fence!

I did not sand the legs. I basically just wiped the dust from the chair and then followed with one coat of the Zinsser oil based primer.

I applied a coat of the high gloss spray paint about an hour after applying the Zinsser primer. The primer probably dried long before that, but with all this energy I got busy multitasking. I followed with a second coat of the high gloss paint.  That is my beagle Nina in the background.

And this is the pink chair with refreshed white legs, back in my home-office.

Since the lighting was not the best in the home-office, I also took photos of the chair in my kitchen, which has much better lighting. The pink damask fabric also looks fabulous under this lighting.  I really love my chair now!
