The Archive in South Miami

May 13, 2014 in Just Saying by MG

Two Saturdays ago, my friend Sara insisted on showing me a couple of brick ‘n mortar stores. Even though I had the usual RedOstelinda Saturday full of chores and errands and on top of that a dinner date at 7pm at our neighbors home, I told Sara I had time.

We first went to The Archive, which is an art and collectibles gallery-boutique Sara had discovered just a few days earlier while shopping in her South Miami neighborhood. As we walked into the store, we were greeted by this very friendly young woman.  She explained that she was the owner’s sister and gave us a little bit of information about the store.  They were celebrating their first anniversary.  She also explained that the boutique was currently working with 13 local artists and pointed out to several of the art pieces by Ana Trelles Portuondo.  I loved her piece featuring Infanta Margarita (from Las Meninas by Velázquez) holding a rooster.

I wished I had asked more questions, but was so busy taking photos with my phone and enjoying all the red in the store, that I did not really asked much.  I have to get better at this! Luckily, I had grabbed one their business cards and was able to learn a little bit more about The Archive from their website.

This boutique is so tastefully stocked.  I truly loved it!  I have to go back without my phone and my camera just to shop. The Archive is at 1559 1/2 Sunset Drive, South Miami. But…you can also learn more and browse through their website by clicking here.

I took lots of photos of all the red that caught my eye.  My favorite piece was the vintage flat file cabinet.  I loved it all dressed in red and black. I also want to thank Sara, who snapped the photo of the cabinet for me.  My left knee is still playing tricks on me and I couldn’t bend to take the photo at the proper angle.

Here are some of my photos… and Sara’s photo!
